TXIA 2015 Proclamation

The Texas Irrigation Association has proclaimed July to be Smart Irrigation Month to draw attention to the importance of using water efficiently and to encourage citizens to utilize irrigation professionals licensed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in order to maximize smart water management practices.

Proclamation Declaring July Smart Irrigation Month


Whereas, the Texas Irrigation Association recognizes water is a finite resources that is vital to human life;

Whereas, well-maintained green spaces are important to the health and well-being of communities and individuals;

Whereas, abundant supplies of affordable food and fiber raise the standard of living for all citizens;

Whereas, appropriate irrigation technology, combined with best practices, can significantly reduce water usage and runoff while creating healthy lawns, landscaping, and sports turf; and

Whereas, appropriate irrigation technology, combined with best practices, can significantly improve wa-ter-use efficiency and reduce runoff while achieving greater agricultural yields per acre foot of water used;

Whereas, July is a peak month for the use of water for irrigation;

Whereas, the Texas Irrigation Association encourages citizens to utilize irrigation professionals licensed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in order to maximize smart water management practices and to increase public awareness of the value of water-use efficiency.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Texas Irrigation Association, hereby declares that July 2015 should be designated as ‘‘Smart Irrigation Month’’—

  1. to recognize the advances in irrigation technology and practices that help raise healthy plants and increase crop yields while using water more efficiently; and
  2. to encourage the adoption of smart irrigation practices to further improve water-use efficiency in agricultural, residential and commercial activities.
